Mary Peters Track Winter Weather Policy

The Belfast City Council Mary Peters Track takes the safety of customers and staff very seriously. As an outdoor venue, availability of the facility may occasionally be affected by hazardous weather conditions, particularly snow and ice in winter months. During periods of cold weather, staff are required to follow a risk assessment procedure before deciding whether to open the track.  Depending on the surface conditions, and with advice from Belfast City Council on the safety of opening the park as a whole, it may become necessary to partially or fully close the facility from time to time.

This is a normal expectation of outdoor sporting facilities, and of course every possible action will be taken to make the facility usable, however the staff’s decision is final and any user ignoring closure and hazard notices does so at their own risk. It is not acceptable to harass staff about a closed facility or apply pressure to revise their safety assessment, and anyone doing so will be asked to leave the facility and may have usage privileges revoked.

In the event of poor weather conditions please contact the office in advance: info@marypeterstrack.com / 02890 600870 or check the Web Site for updates.
